As you may or may not know, I read several music blogs and listen to a lot of music. These songs are more of the better ones I’ve heard as of late.
Ratatat – Mirando
The intro to this song sounds like something from Fatboy Slim, then it moves into something that sounds like something from a old school Nintendo game.
School of 7 Bells – Chain
This tune starts with the odd sounds of Beck and moves into a soft (somewhat distorted) female voice.
Bishop Allen – Dimmer
I first heard of Bishop Allen when I heard his song Click, Click, Click, Click. Dimmer is upbeat and poppy. I like his use of strings as well. His new album GRRR… is due out March 10th. Olly olly oxen free!
Project Jenny, Project Jan Featuring Fujiya and Miyagi – Pins and Needles
Project Jenny, Project Jan begin the song with a short haunting and echoing voice. Armed with a steady beat, the singer and other instruments (including strings!) enter the scene. Throughout the song an electric guitar is softly plucking. The song comes back around to end with the same voice from the beginning.
Esser – I Love You
Esser makes good use of what sounds like an organ and has a simple enough message. The song should perhaps be renamed “I Love You (But I don’t know how to tell you)”.
Let me know what YOU think in the comments.
